Carol Jess launched CJJ Communications in 2006 after a long career in marketing, public relations and organizational communications. With positions as varied as managing editor of FACEPLATE Magazine for the U. S. Navy to public relations counsel for The Minnow Project, Carol’s experience has resulted in valuable experience that directly benefits CJJ Communication’s clients.
Today’s marketing and public relations requires a team with deep insights into issues, talents to find the right words for the audience,technical skills for dynamic websites and artistic abilities for sharp graphic design. Carol’s ability to lead such a team has been honed over her long career.
Carol believes in giving back to her community. Her list of successes include founding the Star City Holiday Parade in 1985, as a volunteer for Lincoln Literacy where she helped a young mother from Sudan to read and tutoring kindergartners at McPhee Elementary School. She currently serves on the board of directors of the Preservation Association of Lincoln.

Carolyn A. Douglas

Carolyn A. Douglas is a nationally recognized leader who has lectured on communications in the U.S. and Canada and received more than 60 awards for her strategic communication programs, media relations, branding, publications, writing, design and photography.
Carolyn’s long career in corporate communications and marketing included formulating, researching, developing, managing and evaluating organizational marketing, media relations, internal and external communications, and social media and public relations programs. Early in her career, she served as a writer and photographer for three Nebraska newspapers.
As a volunteer, she served on the board of directors for the People’s City Mission Foundation of Lincoln, Nebraska, and as corporate secretary of PCM’s Mission Bean Coffee Company, Inc., which she helped found in 2008 to raise funds to provide essential services such as food, clothing, shelter, health care and counseling to less fortunate men, women and children in the greater Lincoln area.
Carolyn holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and a Master of Arts in Management.

Kim Hachiya has enjoyed a long career as a writer and editor. She started her career as a newspaper reporter and editor and later joined the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s public relations team. There she was involved in marketing support for the Lied Center for Performing Arts; magazine and newsletter editing; news release writing; project management; speech writing; research and proposal writing; and general writing and editing support for clients across the university. In 2012, she joined NET, Nebraska’s public radio and television entity, as a magazine editor and public relations specialist. She has been self-employed as a freelance writer and editor since 2014.
She enjoys volunteering and has been in leadership positions for Updowntowners; Leadership Lincoln; Girls on the Run of Nebraska; Abendmusik:Lincoln; P.E.O.; Alpha Xi Delta; and Husker Cats. She holds a degree in journalism from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Kristian is an award-winning producer with local, regional and national media awards to his credit. Besides his extensive knowledge in creating eye-catching and award-winning work, Kristian provides an expansive knowledge of web content management systems and has worked in print design, web design, video production, and many other new media fields. His web designs and graphic work allow us to provide an unmatched quality of marketing output. He has been working in marketing and advertising for more than 20 years and also serves as an adjunct professor in the Journalism College at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln teaching Introduction to Web Multimedia, Photography and Videography.
Kristian began his career in the news and promotion department in television at KOLN-TV. He was on staff at KLKN-TV8 at Promotion Manager/Public Affairs Manager and in radio at KKNB and KMIX as a radio disc jockey. He was Creative/Production Manager at First Rate Printing and has owned his own video production and photography business since 2005.
For more than 20 years, Kristian has been a fencing competitor and coach. Nationally, he is ranked in the top five in his age group. He is a local and regional ADDY award winner.

Callie’s photography has been featured in local and regional publications from Nebraska Trucker Magazine to L Magazine, as well as multiple websites. In addition, she has enjoyed a career as a web and graphic designer for over 7 years with local marketing design production facility, Right Eye Digital. Her creative and imaginative eye allows an incomparable quality of work and innovative design understanding.
Callie enjoys volunteering her time and photo skills to the American Cancer Society’s local events. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Photo Journalism from the University of Nebraska Lincoln.

Joe Ruffo’s diverse body of work includes prints, drawings, graphics design and limited edition artists books. His art and design work has been admired and collected by corporate and private collectors and galleries, both national and international for decades. His main client at CJJ Communications is the Nebraska Water Leaders Academy.
Joe holds a B.F.A degree from Pratt Institute and an M.F.A from Cranbrook Academy of Art.

Kathryn Witte began her career running a press and then setting type and designing (she designed the Lincoln Public Schools logo). She finished her Bachelors degree while working at the Commission on the Status of Women. Since then, she acquired a Masters degree and achieved accredited communicator designations with the International Association of Business Communicators and the Religious Communicators Council.
Her career focus on communications and marketing included opportunities to serve as publisher, managing editor, editor and contributing writer to a variety of publications. From newspaper tabloid formats to magazine-style publications that included the sale of advertising, Kathryn has a breadth of experience.
Kathryn worked for more than a decade for the Nebraska Conference and then Great Plains Conference of the United Methodist Church. She handled production of “GPconnect,” a printed and online publication, distributed to more than 10,000 leaders of the church, was published quarterly. “GPconnect” and its predecessor publication “The Nebraska Messenger” often saw Kathryn, writing, editing and doing the page layout.
Today, she is a consultant in communications and strategic planning and as a member of the CJJ Communications team, handles project management along with writing, editing and proofing.
